This connector is designed to be used with the AutoPot water barrels like the Flexitank. It hast to be simply pushed onto the tap to work and afterwards you can install the pipes that will do the watering for you
It has a water filter incorporated along it to filter the water before it travels through the pipes, which stops pollution from forming and blocking the pipes.
This adapter also allows the user to push the 6mm pipe to the end of the adapter and therefore switch from 16 mm to the finer 6 mm pipe system, which is another bonus and can help some gardeners with their watering.
